ValleyWays 2022
Photographing Australia's most popular acts in our hometown for the first ever ValleyWays Festival.
In 2022, our good friends Morgues won the Triple J Unearthed competition, which secured a spot to open ValleyWays Festival 2022. Hosted in our very own hometown, Southdown was invited to photograph the artists and kick it backstage.
A festival of this size and calibre in Camden was all the rave. Boy, were we pumped to be a part of it. Our first-ever festival in our own backyard.
Southdown’s founder and director, Rhys, was sent to capture the festival and kick it backstage with bands like Spiderbait, The Rubens, Morgues, Skegss, and Middle Kids.
Rhys’s photographs were featured by Rolling Stone Australia, Happy Mag, and shared by artists such as The Rubens and other publications. It was a big day filled with big moments.
"After so much planning and a whole lot of nerves it turned out to be a smash hit and the vibe all day was wholesome. Catching up with artists we hadn’t seen in a while as well as meeting others for the first time was special, and to see the crowd go off to each of their sets was a huge pay off."
